Christ Our Light Catholic Parish is located in Princeton MN, 54 mi NW of Minneapolis and less than a 1 hour drive from the Diocesan Offices in St. Cloud.  We are a growing parish with almost 1300 registered families.  Our mission to Love God and Live the Eucharist is lived daily in our belief that All Are Welcome!  Our vision is built on the foundation of our mission and is supported by our principles to Gather, to Grow, and to Go live as disciples of Jesus.
 
The purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership, organization, structure and direction to the catechetical efforts of the parish, specifically in the areas of youth (grades 7-12) and young adults.  It is a full-time 11/12 position.  Work hours/days are subject to the demands of the position and will vary according to those demands.  Will include some weekends and evenings.  The 11/12 position could evolve to a full time 12-month position based on both the evolution of the candidate and the ministry programs.

Position: Coordinator of Youth Ministry and Young Adults

The purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership, organization, structure and direction to the
catechetical efforts of the parish, specifically in the areas of youth (grades 7-12) and young adults. It is a
full-time 11/12 position. Work hours/days are subject to the demands of the position and will vary
according to those demands. Will include some weekends and evenings. The 11/12 position could evolve
to a full time 12-month position based on both the evolution of the candidate and the ministry programs.
The position is classified as an exempt, 40-hour staff position with benefits according to the Fair Labor
Standards Act (FLSA). Weekend, evening, and other hours as required.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Develops, implements and administers the church’s ministry for grades 7-12, including:
a. Design/select an appropriate curriculum for Faith Formation, utilizing programs not
restricted to “classroom models” of education.
b. Provide lesson preparation, planning and on-site presence for faith formation sessions as
well as provide materials for related programming.
c. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers (e.g. small group leaders, catechists, adult helpers)
d. Provide teaching materials, calendars and schedules on a timely basis to those involved.
e. Ensure that records of both students and programs are kept and maintained.
2. Coordinates the Confirmation Program for 11th graders.
a. Provide lesson preparation, planning and on-site presence for Confirmation sessions.
b. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers (e.g. small group leaders, catechists, adult helpers)
c. Facilitate student-parent meetings for Confirmation programming.
d. Provide appropriate and routine communication for all involved in Confirmation preparation
process-students, parents, and sponsors.
e. Organize and be present for the Confirmation Retreat. Including, Organize the rehearsal and
ceremony of Confirmation Celebration.
3. Provides opportunities for Young Adults to engage with each other and grow in their faith.
a. Work closely with Young Adults to develop and encourage their spiritual growth in Christ.
b. Focus on evangelization and outreach to all Young Adults, especially those not currently
members or participating in Church activities/services.
c. Provide guidance and support based on Catholic principles to Young Adults.
d. Provide leadership for Young Adult gatherings, including social activities, retreats, small
groups and classes.
e. Provide church-wide visibility and communication to Young Adult activities.
f. Identify, develop and implement solutions to strategic needs for Young Adult
4. Rotates with other pastoral staff as the “staff on duty” to provide coverage for weekend Masses.
5. Provides group leadership training and skill development, which results in active participation by
youth leaders in the formulation and conduct of this ministry.
6. Is available for counseling and general discussion through regular office hours and by special
appointment.
7. Attends extra-curricular activities as they support youth and young adults. Seeking to become
acquainted with the families of youth and young adults.
8. Promotes and makes available retreats, conferences, mission/work projects, and
events/activities for youth and young adults.
9. Participates in ecumenical youth opportunities (e.g. Baccalaureate).
General Responsibilities
1. To be present when needed and ready to work as needed to meet all of the other responsibilities of
the position.
2. To conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the faith, morals, teachings, and laws of the Roman
Catholic Church. Read and sign the “Sexual Misconduct Policy” and the “Ethics and Integrity in
Ministry” policies as required by the Diocese of St. Cloud.
3. To work to create a productive environment where there is harmony, good morale, adequate
communication and cooperative collaboration among all staff members as well as between staff
members and members of the parish in order that the highest quality of ministry be afforded to the
members of the parish community.
4. Prepare, submit, and monitor an annual budget including income and expense estimates for all
areas of responsibility.
5. Attending all parish staff, education/youth, and Development Team meetings as well as other
meetings as requested and communicating regularly with the staff outside of said meetings.
6. Be responsible for the supervision of parish facilities used for programs under the direction of this
position.
7. Attend Diocesan Youth Ministry functions and support network groups; Participate in parish-wide
activities (e.g. Weekend liturgies, Parish Festival); Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
• High School Degree and 3 years of experience in guiding parish catechetical ministry.
• Live and actively practice the Roman Catholic faith.
• Computer literate and capable of learning new software programs.
Desired
• College degree or equivalent preferred in Theology, Religious Studies or related field.

Pastoral Associate Concentrating in Music and Liturgy

 Reports to: Pastor (and works in collaboration with staff and volunteers of the various parishes)

Pastoral Associate: A pastoral associate is a deacon, lay person or religious who is associated with the pastor in the care of an Area Catholic Community/a parish.  The pastoral associate is hired by the pastor and renders services in common counsel and endeavor with the pastor and is accountable to him.  The ministry of the pastoral associate is comprehensive, relating to all aspects of ACC/parish life, but with designated responsibilities, e.g., liturgy, faith formation and development, administration, pastoral care, or social outreach. The responsibilities assigned to the pastoral associate depend on the needs of the parish and the gifts of the pastoral associate as well as the gifts of other members of the pastoral staff.

 Primary Objective:  The Pastoral Associate serves as Director of Music and Liturgy for the Church of Saint Benedict and assists the pastor in the overall pastoral care of the parish.  They also serve as a liaison between the pastor and leaders of Seven Dolors, St. Martin, St. Anthony, St. Catherine’s, and Holy Family School to promote the full and active participation that is necessary for edifying worship throughout the Area Catholic Community. 

Primary Area Catholic Community (ACC) duties include (for 8 hours/week):

  1. Coordinating the annual ACC liturgy schedule
  2. Contributing to liturgy committee meetings
  3. Serving as a musician when available and as a resource person for the various parishes
  4. Working in collaboration with the ACC Pastoral Associate for the oversight of sacramental celebrations such as funerals, weddings, baptisms, penance services, and confirmation
  5. Oversight of devotional practices such as Stations of the Cross, Adoration, and Eucharistic Processions
  6. Coordinating and sending out weekly mass intentions and general intercessions for Sundays and Solemnities to the various parishes
  7. Attending staff meetings and other relevant ACC council meetings when relevant to the position

 Duties Specific to Being Saint Benedict’s

32 hours/week, Non-Exempt

 Coordinates Music for all parish celebrations

  1. works in collaboration with parish musicians, the liturgy committee, the parish staff, volunteers, and the pastor to oversee all liturgical celebrations in the parish.
  2. Selects Music and coordinates the parish choirs, musicians, and cantors to cover Sunday and Solemnity celebrations.
  3. Recruits and trains instrumental and vocal musicians and actively promote participation.
  4. Serves as the primary accompanists and choir director.
  5. Works with families for funerals; and plays and directs the choir when available (with stipend paid by the families through the funeral home).
  6. Works with couples for wedding preparation and plays for marriages when available (compensated by couples).
  7. Conducts regular rehearsals with the choir and other musicians.
  8. Works in collaboration with the Business Manager for appropriate budget allotment to cover necessary expenses.
  9. Coordinates musical notation, information, and volunteers for audio visuals to promote congregational participation and community awareness.
  10. Is aware of copyright laws and processes compliance in collaboration with the Business Manager
  11. Maintains and updates the music library and appropriate liturgical resources.
  12. Works with volunteers to give oversight to sacristans, extraordinary communion ministers, lectors, hospitality ministers, and ushers.

 

  • Broader Areas of Pastoral Care
  1. Supervises and trains adult volunteers, peer ministers, and a student employee in the sustaining of effective youth programming.
  2. Collaborates with the pastor, deacon, and administrative assistant in Vine Ministry care for the sick, aged, and homebound.
  3. Actively promotes stewardship of talents through recruitment, training, and scheduling.
  4. Serves as a liaison to faith formation, providing professional assistance and encouraging youth/children involvement in parish liturgical life.
  5. Collaborates in efforts to promote family ministries and adult faith formation
  6. Maintains office hours that coincide with other staff to promote effective collaboration
  7. All other duties as negotiated and assigned

Education/Experience: degree in music, liturgical studies, or similar experience in parish music and leadership

Coordinator of Youth Discipleship

Schedule: Will vary based on programming; evenings and weekends as well as reasonable office hours will be necessary. Compensation will be divided amongst the 6 All Called to Christ ACC parishes.

Job Description:

The All Called to Christ Area Catholic Community is seeking an applicant with a deep love of sharing the Gospel with young people and their families. The Coordinator of Youth Discipleship would work alongside the Discipleship Director and volunteer teams to build a culture of discipleship amongst the youth of the ACC. The desired applicant would create opportunities for middle school youth to grow in faith and relationship with each other and faithful adults, collaborate with the ACC faith formation

team to facilitate programming, as well as work alongside “Illuminate Youth Ministries” and its team to continue to foster teen discipleship in the area. This position is great for a recent graduate looking to start in youth ministry or for a long-time minister desiring to build a new program in the heart of the St. Cloud Diocese.

Responsibilities:

  1. Youth Ministry

– With the Pastors, Discipleship Director, and adult leaders, craft a comprehensive youth ministry vision for the All Called to Christ ACC (comprising the parishes of Christ Church Newman Center, Holy Spirit, St. Anthony, St. Augustine, St. John Cantius, St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud, MN).

– Develop and coordinate programming for middle school youth (6th-8th grade), including regular gatherings (youth group), diocesan programming (middle school lock-in, etc.), volunteer opportunities, mission/service trips, retreats, etc.

– Build and meet with a team of adults from all 6 parishes to assist in steering middle school youth ministry efforts.

– Serve as All Called to Christ’s representative to “Illuminate” (3-ACC youth ministry in St. Cloud area) youth ministry efforts, collaborating and engaging with their Sunday night programming when appropriate, especially to connect middle school youth to high school youth.

– Regular presence in the community life of youth and families engaged in youth ministry programs, including school visits, sports/activities attendance, etc. when appropriate.

  1. Faith Formation

– With the Pastors, Discipleship Director, and Faith Formation Team, craft a vision for a unified ACC K-9th grade faith formation program that draws engagement and participation from all six ACC parishes in their walk of faith.

– Assist the Faith Formation Team in the coordination of K-9th grade faith formation programming, including classroom instruction when necessary, supervision of volunteer classroom leaders, and necessary set up for each program.

– Help recruit, form, and train K-9th Grade faith formation volunteers and catechists from all 6 ACC parishes.

– Assist volunteers in planning, promotion, and facilitation of programming for children/youth throughout the summer, especially Vacation Bible School and Totus Tuus.

  1. General Responsibilities

– Attend staff, relevant parish committee/ACC/diocesan meetings and provide regular updates and communication to parish councils and other parish leadership

– Regular presence in the community life and liturgical life of all 6 ACC parishes. – Collaborate with campus ministry efforts for SCSU and SCTCC, especially in youth outreach. – Provide regular, clear, and consistent communication to participants, parents, volunteers, staff, and the larger faith community utilizing Flocknote, email, bulletin updates, social media, and other appropriate communication methods.

– Manage administrative duties including ordering curriculum books and materials, planning annual Faith Formation/Youth Ministry calendar and budget with Discipleship Director, and ensuring all volunteers are compliant with Diocesan safe environment policies/training – Other duties as assigned by Director of Discipleship and Evangelization and Pastors

Education:

– Undergraduate degree required. Openness to further education recommended.

Qualifications:

– A practicing Roman Catholic

– Strong leadership, team management skills, and interpersonal skills

– Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with the pastor and all levels of parish staff/volunteers as well as university staff when appropriate

– Strong organizational, planning, time management, and problem-solving skills – Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

– Fluency in computers and technology
